Quick answer: To get XM cashback, open a new XM account through a rebate provider’s referral link (or ask XM to move your existing account under the provider’s partner code), then trade as normal. Through FXPayback, at the time of writing, XM Standard and Ultra Low accounts earn up to $18 per lot on forex, paid daily, win or lose.
XM is one of the brokers we get asked about most. Plenty of traders worldwide opened an XM account years ago with a $5 deposit and never thought about what they pay per trade.
Here’s the thing. You’re already paying for every lot through the spread. Cashback just hands part of that back to you. This guide shows how to set it up, what you can expect to earn, and the mistakes that cost people their rebates.
What is XM cashback and how does it work?
When you open a broker account through an introducing broker (IB), the broker pays that IB a commission on every lot you trade. A rebate service like FXPayback is an IB that passes most of that commission back to you, up to 90% in our case.
Nothing changes on your side. Same spreads, same platform, same XM account. The broker pays the commission either way, so the only question is whether it goes to someone else or back into your pocket. If you’re new to the idea, our rebate guide covers the basics.
How much does XM cashback pay per lot?
These are the rates listed on our XM cashback page at the time of writing. Rates can change, so always check the page before you sign up.
| XM account | Forex rebate | Typical spread (majors) | Commission |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | Up to $18 / lot | ~2.0 pips average | None |
| Ultra Low | Up to $2.70 / lot | ~1.6 pips average | None |
| Shares | Up to $2.70 / lot | Market conditions | Per share |
Spread averages: FXStreet XM review. Rebates: FXPayback XM page. The XM page also lists a separate rate for metals on the Standard account, so check it there if you trade gold.
Put that in context. On EUR/USD, one pip on a standard lot is worth about $10. So a 2.0-pip average spread costs you roughly $20 per lot. A $2.70 rebate gives back about 13.5% of that cost on every single trade. That’s not life-changing on one trade. Over a year of active trading, it is.
How do you get XM cashback step by step?
There are two routes. The first is fastest.
Option 1: Open a new XM account (recommended)
- Go to the FXPayback XM page linked above and click the sign-up link.
- Register or log in to your XM client area through that link.
- Complete identity verification (KYC). Have your ID and proof of address ready.
- Open a new MT4 or MT5 account. Minimum deposit is $5 on the main accounts
- Fund it and trade. Rebates show up in your FXPayback dashboard once XM confirms the volume.
Option 2: Link an existing XM account
- To attach your existing XM trading account to our IB, please follow these steps:

💡 You can transfer funds to your new account using the internal transfer option.
How much can an active trader actually earn?
Let’s run real numbers. Say you’re a day trader in Kuala Lumpur doing 50 lots of forex a month on an XM Standard account, earning the listed $2.70 per lot.
- 50 lots × $2.70 = $135 a month
- $135 × 12 = $1,620 a year
- Same trades, same strategy. The only difference is where the IB commission goes.
A scalper doing 200 lots a month would see $540 a month on the same rate. Want to test your own volume? Run it through the rebate calculator.
We’ve been paying traders since 2020, partner with 25+ regulated brokers, and let you withdraw from just $1. You can see real payout proofs before you commit.

What mistakes stop you getting XM rebates?
- Signing up without the referral link. If you register directly on XM’s site, no IB is attached and nobody can pay you a rebate.
- Using an account type that isn’t covered. Stick to the account types listed on the rebate page.
- Overtrading to “earn more cashback.” This is the big one. A $2.70 rebate never makes a bad trade good. Cashback is a cost cut, not a strategy.
Also, XM offers swap-free (Islamic) accounts, per FXStreet, which matters for many traders in Pakistan and Malaysia. Check with XM that your swap-free account is set up correctly before you hold trades overnight.
Is XM the right broker for cashback, or should you compare?
XM launched in 2009 and is regulated by bodies including CySEC, ASIC and the DFSA, as listed on our XM page. It suits small accounts thanks to the $5 minimum. But if you trade a lot of gold or want raw spreads, compare it with Exness cashback (at the time of writing $2–3 per lot on forex and up to $5–7 on gold for the Standard account) or IC Markets.
One honest caution: no rebate fixes poor risk management. Brokers’ own risk warnings show most retail CFD accounts lose money. Size every trade with the position size calculator before you think about cashback.
